Hotspot · Controlled launch

Turn a Wi-Fi connection into a paid customer journey.

Hotspot connects a business’s MikroTik router, branded captive page and own Hubtel merchant account. Customers choose a package, pay and receive access after the payment is verified.

How access is granted

Payment first. Verified access next.

The payment page, provider confirmation and router authorisation remain separate steps, with a record of each.
  1. 01

    A customer joins the Wi-Fi

The MikroTik router sends an unauthorised device to the business’s branded captive page.

  2. 02

    They choose a package

The customer sees only the active time, data and speed packages configured for that location.

  3. 03

    Hubtel handles payment

Checkout uses that business’s own Hubtel credentials, so the provider relationship and settlement remain with the business.

  4. 04

    Hotspot grants access

After the payment status is verified, Hotspot creates the entitlement and the router admits the approved customer or device.

One workspace per business

The owner decides how the hotspot operates.

Each business sees its own locations, routers, packages, customers, payments and platform billing.
01

Locations and routers

Organise each hotspot location, add its MikroTik router and follow a generated, location-specific setup path.

02

Packages and limits

Set the price, time, data allowance, upload and download speed, validity rule and where each package appears.

03

Customer access

Choose device MAC, phone number, generated login or a combined phone-and-device rule for each package.

04

Sharing policy

Keep a purchase on one device or allow a defined number of devices when the business wants sharing.

05

Payments and sessions

Review checkout states, verified payments, active entitlements and router accounting without mixing one business’s records with another’s.

06

Brand and support

Set the business name, colours, portal message and customer support number shown during the Wi-Fi journey.

A business cannot use another business’s locations, credentials, customers or payment records.

Direct-to-business payments

The Wi-Fi sale belongs to the business.

Each owner connects the business’s own approved Hubtel merchant credentials. Hotspot uses those credentials for that business’s customer checkout and never falls back to Iderwell’s billing account.

Business

Owns the merchant relationship

Supplies its approved Hubtel credentials and manages settlement, reversals and provider-account questions with Hubtel.

Hubtel

Handles checkout and settlement

Processes the customer payment and reports the transaction result under the provider’s terms and charges.

Hotspot

Verifies before granting access

Checks the returned payment details against the intended order, records the result and creates access only after confirmation.

Made for a non-technical owner

One guided setup, then daily work stays in Hotspot.

The router configuration is generated for the business. Iderwell checks the physical result before the location is activated.
  1. 01

    Create the business workspace

The owner registers, verifies the account and adds the first location.

  2. 02

    Prepare the MikroTik

Choose a dedicated customer interface, run the preflight check and follow the generated RouterOS setup instructions.

  3. 03

    Connect the business’s Hubtel account

The owner enters the approved POS Sales ID and API credentials through Hotspot’s protected setup area—not by email or chat.

  4. 04

    Configure the offer

Add packages, identity rules, device sharing, locations and captive-page branding from the dashboard.

  5. 05

    Pass acceptance testing

Iderwell tests the physical router journey and a merchant payment from connection through verified access before activation.

Controlled-launch boundaryCreating an account does not by itself certify a router or enable live merchant payments. Activation follows the end-to-end acceptance test for that business.

Launch plan

A clear monthly platform fee.

Hotspot billing appears inside the owner’s dashboard and is separate from customer Wi-Fi payments.

Per businessGHS 1,000/month
  • Tenant dashboard and captive portal
  • Package, identity and sharing controls
  • Hosted authentication and accounting
  • Guided router setup and launch support

MikroTik hardware, internet service, Hubtel charges and separately agreed setup or migration work are outside the monthly fee.

Before onboarding

Straight answers.

Who receives a customer’s Wi-Fi payment?

The payment uses the Wi-Fi business’s own approved Hubtel merchant account. Hubtel handles the checkout, provider charges and settlement under its agreement with that business. Hotspot verifies the result and does not hold the customer’s money.

Can the business decide how customers log in?

Yes. A package can use the device MAC address, phone number, a generated login or a combined phone-and-device rule. The business also decides whether a paid package may be shared and across how many devices; controlled launch keeps data-capped packages on one device so their quota cannot be overspent.

Is every MikroTik router supported immediately?

No blanket hardware claim is made during the controlled launch. Hotspot is designed for compatible MikroTik RouterOS 7.18 or newer hotspot setups, and each router, interface and end-to-end customer journey must pass preflight and physical-device acceptance testing before activation.

Do I need to pay for a separate RADIUS licence?

No separate RADIUS software licence is listed in the Hotspot monthly plan. Hosted authentication and accounting are part of the managed platform. The MikroTik router, internet connection, Hubtel account and Hubtel’s own charges remain separate.

What does Hotspot cost?

The launch plan is GHS 1,000 per business per month. MikroTik hardware, internet service, Hubtel charges and any separately agreed setup or migration work are not included.

Can I sign up and activate a live network instantly?

Account onboarding can begin through Hotspot, but live merchant payments and router access are enabled only after the business credentials, physical router and complete payment-to-access journey pass the controlled-launch checks.
